Every industry has its own specifics and terminology. When faced with a new type of business, at first it seems that your head goes round from the number of new words and terms, but, in time, you begin to navigate them "like a fish in water".

Therefore, if you are just diving into the world of "beauty and fragrance" we have prepared for you a brief information on the terms of perfume and cosmetic containers and components.

The actuator is the head of the dispenser (top part of the pump), which is pressed to dispense the product. The dispensing volume varies depending on the specific product. For example, for liquid soap the optimal volume is 2 ml, and for shampoo or hair conditioner - 6 ml.

Aerosol can is a sealed, metal bottle (most often aluminum) in which the product is pressurized and the cosmetic is delivered by means of a valve. It is most often used for deodorants, hairsprays, shaving foam and gel.

An airless dispenser is a special type of packaging designed for dispensing cosmetic products. It ensures the safety of the contents by creating vacuum pressure, which prevents the product from coming into contact with air and reduces the risk of oxidation and contamination. The advantages of this container are: airtightness (eliminates the contact of the product with air, which prevents its oxidation and increases its shelf life), economy (allows you to use the entire product to the last drop), dispensing accuracy (provides the exact amount of product for each use), hygiene (reduces the likelihood of bacteria, dust and moisture in the product).

A vapostick (vapostick) is a container for cosmetic products packaged as sticks (stick formats) and intended for application to the skin.

They have a number of advantages: convenient to use (compact size is convenient for traveling or carrying in a handbag), easy to apply (the product can be applied directly to the skin without contact with the skin of your fingers), accuracy of application (sticks allow you to accurately dose and apply the product exactly to the desired areas of the skin), hygienic (the product is protected from contamination, as contact with hands and the environment is minimal).

Godet - metal or plastic dividers used in powder, blush or eyeshadow packs to differentiate between shades. It can also be used to divide the set into cells for different products: powder, shadows, blush.

Dispenser is a mechanism for dispensing creamy, gel-like and foaming products (liquid soaps, gels, lotions, creams).

A disk-top is a type of cap for packaging cosmetic and hygienic products, which ensures convenient and hygienic use of the products. The cap consists of two components: a throat part and a dispensing part. The former is usually a cylinder with an internal thread for the throat of the bottle; the latter is a disk on which, when pressed, an opening opens to dispense the product. The container under the "disk-top" should be made of soft enough plastic to be able to squeeze the walls of the package. Such caps are often used on bottles and vials of shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, lotions and other liquid or creamy products.

A deo stick is a type of packaging for deodorants and antiperspirants in solid form. It usually consists of a bottle and a piston mechanism. Deo-sticks are popular for their effectiveness, ease of use and hygiene.

Collar (shroud) is a type of packaging used in the perfume and cosmetics industry. It is a decorative ring that is placed on the neck of the bottle. It makes the joint between the pump and the neck of the bottle less noticeable.

A crimp pump is a type of pumping device used to atomize or dispense liquid perfumes and cosmetics. It is called a "crimp pump" because of the method of attachment to the bottle: the pump is attached to the neck of the bottle by crimping (crimping), which ensures a tight and secure attachment.

A cream stick is a container (usually plastic) for a cosmetic product that is a solid product in the form of a stick. Cream sticks are often used for creams, balms, primers, blushes and other cosmetics intended for topical application to the skin.

Lipstick is a container for lip balms and lipstick. It is a plastic case with a twist-out mechanism.

Lipgloss is a lipgloss packaging. It is a bottle with a sponge brush.

Pulverizer / atomizer / spray - a type of dispenser used to atomize liquid perfume and cosmetic products.

A low profile pump is a type of dispensing device for liquid or creamy cosmetic products that is characterized by its compact and flat design. These pumps are typically used in cosmetic packaging where it is important to maintain a stylish and minimalistic look without increasing the overall height of the packaging.

A high profile pump is a type of dispensing device used for packaging liquid and creamy cosmetics such as shampoos, lotions, gels and creams. High profile pumps are characterized by their greater height and typically provide a greater volume of product delivery in a single push. They are often used in larger bottles for products that are intended for frequent use.

The Push-Pull is a dispensing mechanism that works like this: to open, the spout is pulled upwards (Pull). To close: it is lowered by pushing (Push). It is used for various detergents and household chemicals and sometimes in pharmaceutical packaging.

A foamer is a type of packaging consisting of a bottle with a special neck and a foam pump. As a rule, HDPE and PE-based polymeric materials are used for the bottle, HDPE, PE, PVC - for the pump. There are 2 pumps built into the mechanism of dispensers: pneumatic piston and hydraulic piston. When the pump operates, the internal device precisely mixes air with the liquid, which ensures the formation of foam with each press.

A perfume bottle is most often a glass bottle that comes with an atomizer. Sometimes a cap may be used instead of an atomizer. Flacons can be of different volumes from 5 to 100 ml (sometimes up to 200 ml) and different shapes - from standard (oval, cylinder, circle, square) to exclusive.

A sample/tester is a type of packaging of small volume. It can be any form of container: either a bottle or a jar, made of plastic or glass. Also, a sampler is a product package for one-time use, used in promotions.

Roll-on is the packaging for a ball deodorant. As a rule, it is a glass or plastic bottle with a special neck for the insert and the ball.

Trigger (trigger sprayer) is a spraying mechanism used to atomize a liquid or aerosol. It is most often used in household chemicals.

Cosmetic tube - packaging made of HDPE, LDPE or aluminum, used for the production of cream, gel and paste products. It is equipped with a screw cap or a flip-top.

A flip-top is a type of cap for bottles or tubes. It is characterized by a special opening and closing mechanism that allows you to easily and conveniently open the package and use the product without having to remove or screw the cap.
