The advertisement of any product emphasizes the active ingredients: coenzymes will rejuvenate you, amino acids will remove toxins, etc. But nowhere does it say anything about its base! As if it is something insignificant and does not affect the effect. Alas, just in the base of the cream and contains the most dangerous components that affect not only the condition of the skin, but also on health in general.

BASE COMPONENTS

Water

Water was first on the list for a reason - it is the most water in the base of the cream, as much as 60%! An obligatory requirement: the water must be completely clean and sanitized. The easiest thing to buy is distillate. Thermal or mineral water will be perfect. You can also use: decoctions of herbs (chamomile, calendula, nettle, etc.); green or white tea brew. Decoctions to do too on distilled water. For maximum effect, take hydrolats (hydrosols) - extracts from plants, they include: rose, cucumber, Florence water.

Oils

The base of a face cream consists of 30% oils. Initially, vegetable and animal fats were used for cosmetic purposes. Now in the list of components of cosmetics you can see mineral oils. Be careful: these oils have more in common with the automotive industry than with cosmetology, because they are extracted from petroleum!

The base of the face cream at home is your choice, and it is better to make it in favor of vegetable oils from apricot seeds, grapes, peach or other plants.

Emulsifiers or surfactants

These two terms refer to classes of chemicals that are characterized by their ability to combine oils and water. Without the participation of such substances, any cosmetic product will separate, with emulsifiers or surfactants acting as the "binding agent". Not all emulsifiers and surfactants are equally harmless. For example, SLS, SLES are aggressive surfactants.

Harmless mild surfactants: Lauryl Glucoside, Sucrose Cocoate. Information about them can be found on the label if you decide to buy a face cream base.

Natural emulsifiers: beeswax, guar gum (guar bean powder), cetyl alcohol, sodium alginate (derived from brown algae).

The content of emulsifiers in the cream base is up to 2%.

Preservatives

It is unrealistic to make mass-produced cosmetic products without the use of preservatives - a completely natural cream can spoil before it reaches the customer. Perfuming agents or fragrances are the substances that give store-bought creams such pleasant aromas. There is no need to use synthetic fragrances in natural homemade creams, as natural oils will give a wonderful fragrance.

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES FOR PREPARING CREAM AT HOME

Acquiring the components for the cream is not difficult: everything you need is available at the nearest pharmacy, and beeswax can be bought from beekeepers. Of course, for an ideal consistency and composition will have to work on the recipe. And you can avoid key mistakes if you follow simple principles and do not violate the technology.

1. Solid oil, beeswax should be weighed dry and then melted in a steam bath.
2. Thick ingredients, such as honey, are introduced into the composition melted in a steam bath.
3. The last component of the base is water/water decoction/hydrolat. Use this component to adjust the thickness.
4. Remove the mixture from the water bath and whisk until it cools.
5. The active ingredients should be introduced when the base temperature reaches 35-40 °C.
6. The base for the cream can be prepared in advance, and the active ingredients can be introduced, for example, the next morning.
7. Transfer the mixture; must be prepared in advance plastic container for cosmetics.

To prepare the cream, you will not need complex equipment, as a rule, all the necessary equipment is available to any hostess.

• Kitchen scales
• Mini-mixer (you can whip the mixture with a regular mixer or fork, but it is less convenient)
• Plastic utensils for storing the mixture
• Thermometer

HOMEMADE CREAM STORAGE

Please note: natural face cream is stored from 2 to 14 days, so do not prepare large volumes. Shelf life depends on the active ingredients (for example, cream with egg yolk spoils faster than with glycerin), as well as on storage conditions.

Natural face cream should not be stored in metal dishes, nor should it be exposed to direct sunlight.

• Dishes with dispenser will help extend the shelf life of the cream. This way, you will limit the ingress of air and bacteria.
• You can and should store the cream on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator.
• Freezing the base for natural cream is not recommended, so don't prepare too much of it.
